Cascade Bay outdoor water park in Eagan. In Burnsville,
go-karts are the thing at the ProKart indoor track, and
the fun at Grand Slam USA ranges from batting cages to
mini-golf. Buck Hill Ski Area in Burnsville offers downhill
skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing. A variety of shows
and concerts are presented at the Burnsville Performing
Arts Center.
Shakopee, along the Minnesota River at the
southwest edge of the metropolitan area, has several
attractions that draw visitors to this area. Valleyfair
Amusement Park is one of the largest in the Midwest.
The Landing is a living history village that portrays the
lives of early settlers. At Canterbury Park, there’s live
horse racing. The Mystic Lake Casino complex includes
the large, new Mystic Showroom, with performances by
top entertainers, and the Meadows at Mystic Lake golf
course. There are a number of excellent courses in this
area, including Stonebrooke in Shakopee, The Wilds in
Prior Lake, and Legends Golf Club where Prior Lake
meets Lakeville.
Across the river from Shakopee is Chanhassen, home
to the entertaining Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Also in
Chanhassen are the beautiful gardens and extensive
grounds of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
